There is a range of options in clinic for the treatment of lines and wrinkles. A consultation allows us to understand your needs, assess suitability and let you know the options available.
One of the anti-wrinkle treatments we deliver is commonly known as Botox, which is actually a brand name, the drug is called Botulinum toxin type A and there are only three of these licenced for use in the UK; Allergan Botox, Galderma Azzalure and Merz Bocouture. Botulinum toxin type A is a protein that when injected correctly into the face reduces the muscles in the face contracting, it works by blocking the signal the nerve sends to the muscle, this then reduces the formation of fine lines and wrinkles very successfully.
The appearance of static lines may also be reduced by the relaxation of the muscles releasing tension in the skin but this is not a guarantee. It can also be used to change features such as lowering ‘gummy’ smiles, slimming the jaw, reducing the nasal flare, bunny lines, lines around the mouth, reducing excess sweating and reducing neck bands as well as reducing muscle movement in the upper face. Botulinum Toxin Type A treatment can also be used to balance muscle activity thus producing a more symmetrical appearance.
What sets Hopkinson Aesthetics apart from other clinics is that we educate our patients about the anti wrinkle injection treatments. We listen to what our patients are wanting to achieve, assess what is suitable for them whilst considering their history and advise on the options available. We follow legal requirements when prescribing Botox including an initial a face-to-face consultation. We prescribe one vial per patient of the premium Allergan Botox unless an alternative licenced product is requested.

Rebecca is extremely gentle, however, it may feel like a small scratch, some patients describe it as a popping feeling.
As with any injectable treatment bruising, swelling, infection, vascular compromise and nerve damage are potential risks. An allergic reaction to the products used is also a potential risk, it is important to be open and candid before the treatment and follow the aftercare advice to minimise risk.
Anti-wrinkle injections are typically divided into 3 areas; the frown lines between the eyebrows, the horizontal lines on the forehead, and the crows feet lines around the eyes. Advanced techniques are also offered in clinic to help bunny lines, neck bands, gummy smiles and to help slim the jaw.
